Stillness Blade interview

The interview with Max Schito, leader member and guitarist, has been in progress for a long time (i was like, it can happen i will never got any answers – however i was really interested what will he respond), first their tour, then the translation took much time. I received a few days ago in mail his answers, so i won’t take more time, let’s lash into the tortured with our large blade!

Firstly, thank you for the CD, and for accepting the interview. Let’s start with your name, Stillness Blade! Why called it this, and why took 5 years to make The First Dark Chapter (Misanthropic Elevation). (Don’t misunderstand me, it was worthy to wait it, because it’s an unbelieveble good album – but still too much time passed…)

Thank you for allowing us this opportunity!

The name of the band is due to the whole project “Stillness’ Blade”; more, we searched for a name reflecting our sound…you know how could be considerable the laceration provoked by a bent blade…

Stillness Blade project was born as an one-man band in 2002; it wasn’t so easy to find serious and good musicians like Antonio and Gianpaolo in order to create a real band… we began to play together in may 2005 and some months later we recorded our first full-length , gone out in November 2007 for the Canadian Label „Obskure Sombre Records”.

Unfortunately there was a delay in the distribution of our first album because we were searching for a satisfying contract…what we have found with the “Obskure Sombre Records, in an underground label but they work with passion and reliability.

How much are satisfied vith the sound and the formalities? (Because these things were the mistakes of the record for me)

Unfortunately we had a limited budget so we couldn’t record “The First Dark Chapter (Misanthropic Elevation)” in a great studio. Our next album will surely be more professional and accurate in every detail. We are only partially satisfied with the sounds we expressed.

How old are you, and what do you do besides music? (family, job, hobby, etc)

I’m 30 years old, I’m an engineer, and my greatest hobby is music..I like travelling and football too and I support the club of my town U.S. LECCE.

Who made the keyboard themes, and who are so horror film fan?:)

It’s obvious: we all love horror movies, especially Gianpaolo. He has a great culture.
Stefania Fracasso recorded just the keyboards parts in “Intro” and “Outro” in “The first Dark Chapter (Misanthropic Elevation)” but I recorded the obscure parts creeping in all the tracks using my guitar and a multi-effects processor. We try to play the tracks live as recorded.

At some points, your music reminds me the also italian Delirium X Tremens‘s debut, the CreHated From No_Thing, do you know each other? And if we are here already, which italian bands can you mention from your country’s scene, who are really good and you should be proud of them?

For sure, we know them, they’re great bands. There are important Italian Bands like Sadist, Novembre and other famous ones known all over the world. We’re very proud of underground Italian Bands playing Extreme Metal, but I’d prefere not to mention them, because I could forget some ones and I don’t want to be unfair.

What bands is/was inspiring you, and can you tell me a name which was your favourite in your childhood and is still one today?

I’ve heard Heavy Metal since I was 12, Iron Maiden and Slayer have always been among my favourite ones; Kreator and Megadeth too. Passing through the years I have approached more and more to the extreme metal thanks to historical Death Metal Bands and to Grind, Black, Brutal. I particularly love Dissection; they inspired me a lot in the draft of our CD, with Malevolent Creation and Fear Factory too I think.

Would you like to send a message to the readers of Fémforgács?

I tell the readers of Fémforgács go on supporting this webzine, cause its care is great! It’s an excellent international webzine! I’ve been in Budapest, Hungary, in 2002, and I remember I was very happy for the passion surroundin’ Heavy Metal, Fémforgács is a clear proof of it!

Beer or Wine? Haha!

I drink neither beer nor wine, I sometimes drink Vodka, Gin, Rum, Absinth…strange for a Metal Musician not to drink beer, isn’t it? However, Antonio and Gianpaolo for sure prefer beer.

Something you’d like to say at the end?

I want to thank you again and send an infernal greeting to all the Hungarians Metal Friends!
We are working’ at our new album, and we’ll recorded in a studio in a few months…se you at the next massacre!

Thanks for the interview Max and take care!

Thank you and thanks all the staff of Fémforgács from whole band and me!
