Remastered Destroyer

Destroyers – one of the most influential groups in the entire history of Polish heavy metal. Back in late 80’s and early 90’s, they were one of the few heroes of the scene, bringing together thousands of metal fans all across Poland. Metal Mind Productions will re-release Destroyer’s debut album from 1989 – A Night Of The Lusty Queen. The album proved to be a true heavy metal masterpiece – catchy riffs, powerful vocals and insane drumming made this release an instant classic on the Polish metal scene. Lyrically, the album told tales of honor, betrayal, lust and cruelty, set in a world of haunting legends, brave warriors and beautiful temptresses. The lyrics were often very straight-forward and for that time – quite shocking. This exclusive re-release includes bonus tracks taken from the Polish language versions.

Digitally remastered, it perfectly captures the sheer essence of Destroyers – a true legend of the Polish scene! New digipack edition will be limited to 2000 copies. Bio
The band was originally formed as Destroyer in 1988 in the city of Bytom. The line-up consisted of: Adam Słomkowski (guitar), Marek Łoza (bass, vocals), Grzegorz Fredyk (guitar) and Wojciech Zięba (drums). The group soon dominated the local scene, winning a bunch of competitions (they received the local “Lampka Górnicza” award twice) and playing numerous shows, including the small stage at Jarocin festival and a show in Grodków. But the breakthrough was yet to come. In 1987 Destroyer performed at the Metalmania ‘87 festival in Katowice. The show was recorded and released a year later as a split with another band – Hammer. But before that, Destroyer debuted on the “Metal Invasion” split with Stos, Wilczy Pająk and Dragon, released by Polton in 1987. With these two releases, Destroyer gained much acclaim all across Poland, gathering many new fans. In time the band sharpened their sound and begun to play more aggressively. They proved their skill on two legendary gigs – Heavy Metal Show and Metal Battle, which lead them to another performance at the Metalmania festival (this time as a trio, without guitarist Grzegorz Fredyk). The year 1988 ended for the band with an extensive tour across former Czechoslovakia. Destroyer’s efforts paid off – in 1989 they got a chance to release their debut album called “Noc Królowej Żądzy”, after changing their name to Destroyers and adding bassist Waldemar Szyszko into the line-up (from that moment on, Łoza concentrated only on vocals). Soon an English version of the LP was prepared – “A Night Of The Lusty Queen” was eventually released abroad by Barricade Records.
The album proved to be a true heavy metal masterpiece – catchy riffs, powerful vocals and insane drumming made this release an instant classic on the Polish metal scene. Lyrically, “A Night Of The Lusty Queen” told tales of honor, betrayal, lust and cruelty, set in a world of haunting legends, brave warriors and beautiful temptresses. The lyrics were often very straight-forward and for that time – quite shocking. Soon after releasing the LP Destroyers appeared for the third time at the Metalmania festival, giving a spectacular performance. In the meantime guitarist Waldemar Łukosza replaced Adam Słomkowski, but soon after that the band went into hiatus due to Zięba’s and Szyszko’s departure to Germany. After they got back, Zięba got replaced by young drummer Tomasz Wiczewski. Unfortunately, due to unknown reasons the group soon dissolved. Nevertheless, their second album – “The Miseries of Virtue” – was eventually released in 1991 (it was recorded back in 1989). The LP showcased a lot of progress, both musically and lyrically, becoming an ideal summary of the group’s career.
This exclusive re-release includes the album “A Night Of The Lusty Queen” in both versions – Polish and English. Digitally remastered, it perfectly captures the sheer essence of Destroyers – a true legend of the Polish scene!
