What a weird release German Ván Records enriched the world with; it’s not from else but Year Of The Goat. This Swedish band formed in 2006, and I suppose this first MCD is their first material – I suppose, because they don’t even have a website, the aforementioned information I managed to share with you derives from a serious investigation. Theoretically they’re gonna release the debut this year, so practically Lucem Ferre is its precedessor within the confines of a genre which had not been alive for decades yet, however I don’t think our Swedish friends would fill in a vast gap with this release… It sounds correct and its externalities look puritanic, however it’s enwrapped in nice prints, the booklet’s thin and besides a few engravings it doesn’t contain more.
Musicwise, the world of the 60s and 70s wave back at us, like an occult hippie gang, which rather is surrounded by the presence of Pentagram, Uriah Heep, Raven and Black Sabbath, whilst the vocalist’s organ reminds strongly of Ville Valo‘s voice (HIM). The production covers a blend of demanding rock music with its lyrical, slightly post-rock-like rounds, and somewhere deep even heavy and doom metal lingers, but those don’t get to the surface nor by chance. Next to the own pieces, a Sam Gopal cover was included as well…

…it’s daydreaming, sorrowful music which has its depths, clearness and filthiness, the psychedelic presence is minimal though, however they were announced by that term in certain media groves.
